Solutions — Percentage Questions 61 to 70
61. A man spents \( \boldsymbol{33\frac{1}{3}} \)% of his salary on item of daily use and \( \boldsymbol{37\frac{1}{2}} \)% of the remainder on house rent. After that he is left with 3900 Rs. How much is his salary ?
Sol:
spent ⟶ \( \boldsymbol{33\frac{1}{3}} \)% ⟶ \(\frac{1}{3}\) ⟹ saves ⟶ \(\frac{2}{3}\)
spent ⟶ \( \boldsymbol{37\frac{1}{2}} \)% ⟶ \(\frac{3}{8}\) ⟹ saves ⟶ \(\frac{5}{8}\)
62. If monthly salary of an employee is increased by \( \boldsymbol{3\frac{5}{8}} \)%, he gets Rs. 580 more. What is his monthly salary ?
Sol:
63. A man spents 60% of his income. His income increased by 30% and he increased his expenditure by \( \boldsymbol{16\frac{2}{3}} \)%. His saving then will be increased by how much percent ?
Sol:
64. A man received an annual salary of Rs. 5720 in the year 2023. This was \( \boldsymbol{57\frac{1}{7}}\)% more than his salary in year 2022. What was his salary in year 2022 ?
Sol:
65. Out of his total Income, Amit spents 20% on item of daily use and 70% of the rest on house hold expenses. If he saves 8400 Rs., then what is his total income ?
Sol:
66. The total income of A, B and C be Rs. 260. If they spends 70%, 75% and 80% respectively and the ratio of their saving be 9 : 5 : 3. Then find the income of B ?
Sol:
& Given that A + B + C = 260
∴ 30x + 20x + 15x = 260
x = 4
∴ income of B = 20x = 20 × 4 = 80 Answer
67. Ankit saves 40% of his monthly salary. If his monthly expenditure is 6000 Rs. Then what will be his monthly saving ?
Sol:
∴ monthly salary = 100% = 100 × 100 = 10000
& monthly saving = 40% = 40 × 100 = 4000 Answer
68. A reduction of 30% in the price of sugar enables a person to obtain 9 kg more sugar for Rs. 105. Then what was the price per kg of sugar before reduction ?
Sol:
∴ initial consumption = 7 × 3 = 21 kg
∴ initial price = \(\frac{{105}}{{21}}\) = Rs.5/kg Answer
69. A reduction of 20% in the price of an banana enables a man to buy 10 banana more for Rs. 54. Then what will be the reduced price of banana per dozen ?
Sol:
∴ 1 unit = \(\frac{5}{6}\) dozen
new quantity = 5 × \(\frac{5}{6}\) = \(\frac{25}{6}\) dozen
new price = \(\frac{{54}}{{\left( {\frac{{25}}{6}} \right)}}\) = 12.96 Rs./dozen Answer
70. A book consists of 40 pages, 30 lines on each page and 35 haracters on each line. If this content is written in another book consisting of 60 lines and 40 characters per line, then the required number of pages will how be how much percent less than the previous pages ?
Sol:
Total number of character in Book1 = Total number of character in Book2
⟹ 40 × 30 × 35 = p × 60 × 40
p = 17.5 ⟹ p = 18 ( Since pages will always be integers)
So required % = \(\frac{{40 – 18}}{{40}} \times 100\) = 55% Answer
